Deliver College-Related Info
We connect 8th-12th grade students to the college-related information they need, early on, in-person* and through our digital & social media platforms. We want to make sure every local student has access to ALL the information they need to self-navigate and prepare themselves to be the best college applicants.
*In-person connections not available during pandemic and will only resume until it is deemed safe by CDC guidelines.
Engage & Inform Students
What makes our network unique is that we’re made up of student ambassadors who promote college information by incorporating their own experiences - the good, the bad and everything in between. We partner with volunteer college & high school students to address the most relevant topics affecting today's youth and answer the most common college-related questions students have.
We also partner with education leaders and help point students towards the right programs, people and places that move them toward their educational goals.
Community Outreach, Events, Workshops, College Fairs
We focus on our mission and achieving our goals through direct outreach to students via digital platforms, in person, at schools, events, fairs, workshops, and partnerships.
Provide a Safe Space for Students
We know that for some students it can feel intimidating to ask questions to teachers, school staff, or other people because of fear of sounding dumb or wasting someone's time. We know some students would rather bypass the questions and try figuring things out on their own. We know - because we're students too and have been in their shoes. We engage in an honest and relatable way to provide a safe space for students from diverse backgrounds to get the resources they need.
Referrals to College Resource Programs
We provide referrals to local organizations & resources that provide services such as guidance counseling and assistance in selecting colleges, help with college applications, essay writing, workshops, scholarships, financial assistance and more - absolutely free.
There will always be a need for more resources for students. Our network does not take anything away from what schools or organizations already do. Instead, the network wants to help strengthen what other organizations do by serving as a hub for students to have a safe space to start exploring and gaining knowledge, then point students towards the right programs, people and places that can help them with their specific goals.
Network Scholarship Opportunity
When available, we offer scholarships to all high school seniors residing in the communities we serve who are pursuing higher education at a 4 year college or university, as well as undergraduate students who have significantly contributed to the mission of The Student For Students Network. Scholarships are dependent on current funding and range from $500 - $2,500. An essay is required. We will announce when new scholarship applications are being accepted. Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date.
College & University Application Fee Grants
When available, we offer grants to high school seniors in the communities we serve to help offset the costs of college & university admission applications. Grants are available to students who are active participants of the The Student For Students Network. Grants are dependent on current funding and the number of schools applicants wish to apply to. We will announce when new grant opportunities are available. Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date.
Career and College Exploration Program
When open, high school Juniors and Seniors can apply for our Career & College Exploration Program. This is a guidance program in which we connect one-on-one with a student to help them explore career possibilities. And/or, if a student knows what career path they want to pursue, our network provides the student with relevant career-specific information about summer programs, internships/apprenticeships, camps and other activities that might be beneficial to the student*. Additionally, we assist students in finding and comparing colleges that offer their desired major(s)/career options. Space is limited, we will announce when the application period is open (late summer usually). Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date.
Volunteer Opportunities
Students can volunteer for our network helping with what best fits their interests (social media, research, graphic design, writing, etc.). In addition, we believe in helping create a better future for all students. Aside from our college focuses, we participate in volunteer activities throughout our community that help build relationships and make a positive impact. Through volunteer work, students will be helping others while at the same time sharpening their skills and building their resume. College volunteers for our Network will be eligible to apply for our Network Scholarship, when available.
Initiatives to Help Meet Students' Basic Needs
We work to connect every student with the information and resources they need to understand, plan for, and go to college. If a student is homeless, hungry, or otherwise struggling, they will not be thinking about college first; they're thinking about their next meal. As a public benefit organization, created for education and charitable purposes, we believe that in order to get students to tomorrow, we have to support their basic needs today.
In 2020 (pre-pandemic)over 16% of high school students in just one of the districts in the communities we serve were homeless. (That's enough students to fill one entire high school.)
The Student For Students Network is committed to creating programs and taking initiatives that support the current needs of students in the areas we serve, including pantries, supply drives, and in-kind donations for special projects.
There will always be a need for more resources for students. This network helps strengthen what other organizations do by serving as a hub for students to have a safe space to start exploring and gaining knowledge, then point students towards the right programs, people and places that can help them with their specific goals.
If you're a student with a specific need, or have an idea of how else we can serve 8th-12th grade students that aligns with our mission & vision, we'd love to hear from you! Please Contact Us today!
